The role of organic coatings in chemicals:
• Protect the cylinder surface
• Ensure smooth wrinkling of the paper sheet
• Improve paper quality
（2) Principle of wrinkling
After the paper sheets are dried, they are adhered to the surface of the drying cylinder and rotate along with it. Then, a doctor blade scrapes them off the surface of the drying cylinder and rolls them into paper rolls.
It’s important to note that the doctor blade does not directly scrape the paper sheet off the surface of the drying cylinder; rather, it is separated from the cylinder surface by a chemical organic coating. This chemical organic coating acts as a buffer, making the paper sheet easier to peel off and resulting in a soft, fluffy texture with minimal wrinkling.
As the paper sheets are peeled off, the protective film formed by the chemical organic coating is also removed. However, at the same time, spray pipes located in the lower part of the drying cylinder continuously replenish a fresh protective film. This cycle continues indefinitely, ensuring smooth and stable operation of the paper machine.
Note: If the protective chemical coating is absent, the blade will directly scrape against the surface of the drying cylinder. In this case, the resulting friction generates “micro-welding” between metal surfaces, causing metal particles to detach from the surface and form tiny pits. This is the fundamental cause of scratches on the drying cylinder’s surface.
